Electrostatic Oil Cleaner AMC

Ram Engineering maintains the electrostatic oil cleaner (ELC) you own, of any make, on an annual maintenance contract (AMC): a visit each quarter and two breakdown visits.

What to Send for an Offer

To start, send us:

  • The machine: a photo of its nameplate, or its make, model and serial number.
  • The oil it cleans and the volume in the system.
  • The paper: its size and the sheets in a full change, or a photo of it in place beside a ruler.
  • The last paper change and the date of the last service.
  • If you want our ELC at your plant: the oil, the litres a month and a recent oil report if you have one. Send photos on WhatsApp to +91 99400 49505 or by email to [email protected].

What Wears in an Electrostatic Oil Cleaner, and What Needs Care

An electric field draws fine particles, and the soft, insoluble products of oil ageing that can build into varnish, out of the oil. Filter paper between the electrode plates holds what the field pulls out. The paper takes all of the dirt, so it fills with use, and a full sheet collects less.

The machine works at a high voltage on oil that is nearly dry. Its care therefore comes down to three things: the paper, the electrodes and their insulation, and keeping the oil within the maker’s limits for moisture, conductivity and fluid compatibility.

Signs an Electrostatic Oil Cleaner Needs Attention, and the Usual Causes

An oil test and an inspection show the real cause. These are the usual signs and suspects.

Signs an electrostatic oil cleaner needs attention, and the usual causes
What you noticeWhat it usually points to
The oil is not getting cleaner, though the machine runsPaper that is full or fitted so that oil bypasses it, or water in the oil, which an electrostatic machine does not remove
The paper fills faster than beforeThe oil carries more dirt or varnish than before, or something in the system is feeding dirt into it
The machine trips or shows a high-voltage faultMoisture, an oil film or dirt on insulating parts, wet oil, or a fault in the high-voltage supply: isolate and lock out the machine and let the high-voltage parts discharge before anyone opens it
Flow through the machine is lower than beforeLoaded paper or strainer, a worn pump, or a blocked hose or valve
Oil leaks at the machine cover or a hose jointWorn seals or loose connections

Your Cleaner, or Ours: The Two Contracts

The right contract depends on what you own. With an electrostatic cleaner of your own, the first keeps it collecting through the year and shows you when its paper and electrodes need attention. If you have none, the second puts our machine at your plant, and our team cleans your oil on dates agreed with you. The oil must suit an electrostatic machine, within the maker’s limits for moisture, conductivity and fluid compatibility: nearly dry, and not water-based, is only the start. Send the details above to begin. We can call at your plant to see the machine and its paper, and the offer then lists what is covered and when.

Maintenance of Your Own Electrostatic Oil Cleaner

We maintain the electrostatic oil cleaner you own, whatever its make, under a contract valid for 12 months.

The contract covers 4 preventive maintenance visits a year, one each quarter. On each visit we inspect, calibrate and clean the unit and its parts, and test that it works.

It also covers 2 emergency or breakdown visits within the contract, and minor adjustments and troubleshooting during the visits.

Spare parts, consumables such as filter paper, and major replacements are charged extra, at actuals. For new filter paper, send the make, model and paper size, and we confirm whether we can supply it.

Filtration With Our Machine at Your Plant

We clean your oil at your plant with our own electrostatic machine. You commit to a volume of oil, for example 4,000 litres a month.

You give us a place at your plant to keep our machine, and a working space for our team.

Our team comes on the agreed dates and carries out the filtration.

What We Check on Each Visit

On each preventive maintenance visit we inspect, calibrate, clean and test the unit and its parts, for example:

  • The filter paper between the electrodes checked, and changed when it is full
  • The electrodes inspected and cleaned
  • Controls and settings checked and calibrated
  • A test run on your oil, with minor adjustments and troubleshooting

Between Our Visits

Follow the manual’s intervals. These habits help catch trouble early:

  • Note each paper change: the date, and the oil that has gone through since. Paper that fills sooner than before tells you the oil or the system has changed.
  • Switch off, lock out and check that the stored charge has discharged before anyone opens the machine. It works at a high voltage; follow the manual’s discharge procedure, and release any pressure in the oil lines.
  • Run it only on oil that is within the maker’s limits for moisture, conductivity and fluid compatibility. Where the oil is wet, get the water out first, with an LVDH machine or a centrifuge with a heater, as ours is; getting the water out does not by itself show that the oil suits the machine.
  • Keep new paper dry in its packing until it is fitted, and fit it as the manual shows, without creases.
  • Treat used paper as oily waste, under your plant’s rules.

Case study

Electrostatic Oil Cleaners Kept in Order on an Annual Contract in Kerala

The situation. A plant in Kerala owns electrostatic oil cleaners. Each one draws varnish and fine dirt out of the oil onto filter paper between its electrode plates, and each needs its paper changed, its electrodes cleaned and its controls checked on a schedule. The plant put that upkeep under an annual maintenance contract with us.

What we did. As we last quoted the contract, in July 2026 for seven units, our team visits every quarter to inspect, calibrate, clean and test each cleaner and its parts, makes two emergency visits in the year, and adjusts and troubleshoots at each visit. Spare parts, consumables and major replacements are charged extra, at actuals.

The result. We hold no before-and-after oil figures for these cleaners, so we give none. What the records show is continuity: in August 2025 our team cleaned 5,000 litres of hydraulic oil and one hydraulic oil tank at the plant, and the latest quotation for the contract is dated July 2026.

Where: Kerala.

What Your Site Provides

Our past offers put these in the customer’s scope; your offer confirms them.

  • Visits to your machine: permits, gate passes and entry. The machine switched off, isolated and locked out, with its oil lines isolated, before we open it. Power and oil for the test run.
  • Used paper and waste oil: disposal through an authorised recycler.
  • Our machine at your plant: space to keep it, power, a working area for our team, and oil up to the volume you agreed.
  • For jobs outside Chennai, travel and stay for our team are included in the quote.

How we work across India

Places and records

Where We Have Done This

We have held an electrostatic oil cleaner AMC at a plant in Kerala. Our latest quotation for this contract on record, from July 2026, was for a plant in Kerala, on the terms set out on this page; that was a quotation. Our invoices of 2025 also include filter paper for an electrostatic machine at a rubber hose plant, the kind of consumable this contract leaves to be charged at actuals.

Questions Buyers Ask

Do you maintain any make of electrostatic oil cleaner?

Yes. We maintain the machine you own, whatever its make. Send its make, model and serial number when you enquire.

Is the filter paper included?

No. Filter paper and other consumables, spare parts and major replacements are charged extra, at actuals. The visits, minor adjustments and troubleshooting are part of the contract.

What do we provide for filtration with your machine?

A place at your plant to keep our machine, and a working space for our team. You commit to a volume of oil, for example 4,000 litres a month, and our team comes on the agreed dates.

When is the paper changed under the contract?

When it is full, not by the calendar: each planned visit checks it. New paper is charged at actuals.

Will an electrostatic cleaner suit my oil?

That is decided by the cleaner maker’s limits for moisture, conductivity and fluid compatibility for your model, and taking the water out is not enough on its own. Many mineral oils, such as hydraulic, turbine, gear and lube oils, are poor electrical conductors and can suit it within those limits. Water-based fluids are not suited. Send the oil grade, the machine’s make and model, and a recent report with the water content if you have one.

Is oil testing included?

Oil tests are not listed in the contract scope. If you want the oil’s particle count too, ask when you enquire: our own laser particle counter tests bottle samples offline.

How is the contract priced?

The price depends on the machine, the paper and the kind of contract, so we quote for each enquiry.

Ask About an Electrostatic Oil Cleaner AMC

Tell us the machine you own and the oil, or, for filtration with our machine, the oil and the volume each month. “Not sure” is a fine answer; we will ask follow-up questions.

One is enough.

For example the machine make and model, the oil it cleans, and the litres a month to clean. Approximate is fine.
